MORE INFO:

Bionaut Films is a fully integrated Czech film and TV production company based in Prague and founded in 1999. Founded by Vratislav Šlajer during his first year studying production at FAMU, the company has grown to become one of the top Czech production companies in the country.

Bionaut produces fiction, documentary and animated films and television series. The company has established itself as an award-winning production house, having won 5 Czech Film Awards in 2011 and earning recognition with projects like "#martyisdead" (2019), which won a Czech Lion and Emmy for best short series.

In 2015, Bionaut expanded its activities to include three new labels facilitating the production of several specific genres: Bionaut Animation for animation, Bionaut Docs for documentaries and Bionaut Dark for English-language genre films. The company operates several divisions including Bionaut Works (a service division providing production and co-production support), the Audionaut label for audio series and podcasts, and Zero Gravity for film marketing and merchandising.

To strengthen its regional presence, joint ventures have been established in Poland (Kosmonaut), Slovakia (Raketa) and Serbia (Aeronaut) to develop, produce and distribute international TV and genre projects. This network allows Bionaut to access production services and funding across Central Europe.

Notable productions include the award-winning feature film "Smradi/Brats" (2002), the critically acclaimed series "#annaismissing" (2023), and various animated projects like "Hungry Bear Tales" (2020). The company continues to be at the forefront of Czech audiovisual production, adapting to industry changes while maintaining its commitment to quality storytelling across multiple formats and genres.
