Jakub Košťál is a Czech film producer and a key member of the production team at Bionaut Films. He is a member of the Czech Film and Television Academy, member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the winner of the International Emmy Award 2020 for series "#martyisdead".
He started his career in Czech Television. His love for cinema took him first to FAMU, where he studied production, and then to Bionaut, where he works as a producer. He has twice taken part in the MIDPOINT Script Development Program and also attended ACE Training Days 2019. Additionally, he is an EAVE Graduate 2023 and a member of the European Film Academy.
Košťál's most notable achievement came with the web series "#martyisdead" (2019), which he produced alongside Vratislav Šlajer and Milan Kuchynka. The eight-part thriller about cyberbullying was inspired by real cases and won the International Emmy Award as best Short-Form Series of 2020, making it the first nomination and win for a production from the Czech Republic in Emmy history.
At Bionaut, Kostal is currently working on several projects, including preparing shooting for the second season of their Emmy-winning series and writing an animation series with Bára Anna Stejskalová. He was also involved in the production of "9 Million Colors," the Czech/German/Norwegian co-production puppet animation musical directed by Bára Anna Stejskalová that premiered at the Annecy Animation Festival in 2025. He is also part of the magazine Planet Dark.
Košťál represents the new generation of Czech producers who are successfully bringing Czech content to international audiences, combining local storytelling with global appeal. His work demonstrates the growing recognition of Czech audiovisual production on the world stage.
