Far, Far Away

1997

Synopsis

Created through a collaboration between an animator and three experienced physiotherapists (who are also mothers), "On Own Two Feet" serves as both an informative resource and a conversation starter about the importance of understanding children's physical and emotional development. The 50-minute film combines technical expertise with relatable scenarios, making complex developmental concepts accessible to parents, educators, and anyone who works with children.

Mission

The film "Far, far away" endeavors to breathe new life into the iconic paintings of Theodor Kittelsen, transforming static art into dynamic storytelling through the medium of animation. By connecting these individual works into a cohesive narrative thread, the film seeks to honor Kittelsen's artistic legacy while making his distinctive Norwegian imagery and folklore accessible to contemporary audiences.

About the film

The document mentions that after working on this project, the animator was able to purchase a 35mm animation camera and an editor desk from Trygve Rasmussen, who operated the Punktfilm animation studio in Oslo. Rasmussen, who began his animation career with Ivo Caprino in 1954, was known for "The Golden Coin" short film and a Viking Shoe commercial.
