Janne K. Hansen – (b. 1966, Levanger, Norway) is a cinematographer and animator renowned for her contributions to Norwegian stop-motion and cut-out animation. Educated in still photography at Sogn Upper Secondary School, she furthered her studies in media at Buskerud Folk High School, film photography at Gamle Oslo Video Workshop, and animation at Volda University College.

 

Hansen began her career at Studio Magica, leading to a longstanding collaboration with Russian-born animator Pjotr Sapegin. Over the years, she worked on approximately 40 film productions, encompassing feature films, short films, and commercials. Her roles spanned from cinematographer and assistant cinematographer to editing assistant, lighting designer, scenography assistant, and production manager.

 

Her cinematographic work includes notable films such as the Flåklypa trilogy (2013–2018), Dyrene i Hakkebakkeskogen (2016), Aria (2001), Huset på Kampen (1998), and Farse (2019). Through over two decades in various stop-motion puppet and cut-out productions, she collaborated with several of Norway's most productive and award-winning directors, including Kajsa Næss, Rasmus Sivertsen, Anita Killi, Mats Grorud, and Robin Jensen.

 

In addition to her film work, Hansen has experience as an instructor and course leader in photography, darkroom work, and animation courses. Her dedication to visual storytelling and mentorship has left a lasting impact on the Norwegian animation industry.
