MorE INFO:

Ole Christoffer Haga is a Norwegian animator, filmmaker, and academic who has established himself as a significant figure in both the animation industry and animation education. Born on June 30, 1974, Haga currently serves as Senior Lecturer in 3D Modeling and Animation at the GameSchool, part of the Faculty of Audiovisual Media and Creative Technologies at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.

Haga brings over two decades of professional animation experience to his academic role. His career began in the early 2000s at AnimagicNet (now Storm Studios), where he worked on notable projects including the Emmy-winning animated TV series "Two Wasted Wankers" and the acclaimed animated feature "Free Jimmy" (2006), which received the Amanda Award for Best Film and was nominated for the Nordic Council Film Award. At Filmkameratene from 2003-2007, he served as team leader for the animation, modeling, lighting, and compositing on the Emmy-nominated children's stop motion series "Elias" and the animated feature "Elias og Kongeskipet."

As an independent filmmaker, Haga has created two notable animated shorts: "Stick" (2012) and "Flounder" (2016), both funded by The Audio And Visual Fund and screened at international festivals. His work spans traditional animation, 3D modeling, and emerging technologies, with particular expertise in virtual reality and cinematic VR applications.

In academia, Haga has made significant contributions to animation and VR research. He earned his MA in Digital Communication and Culture from Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (2017-2019) and has published research on animated storytelling in 360 degrees and film style in cinematic VR. His scholarly work also extends to the analysis of contemporary animation, including his recent chapter "Animated Traumas: The Films of Anita Killi" in the book Radical Children's Film and Television edited by Noel Brown. In this work, Haga examines how Anita Killi's groundbreaking films use animation's properties to represent traumatic experiences from children's perspectives, exploring how her distinctive multiplane cut-out technique and mixed-media approach create powerful emotional narratives that challenge conventional approaches to children's cinema.

Currently, Haga is developing his own animated film "PAM Inc" at Trollfilm, with the project set to be transferred to Løv Film for the next phase. This represents his return to creative filmmaking while maintaining his academic pursuits.

Throughout his career, Haga has contributed to various Norwegian television productions, including work for NRK series like "Siffer," "Tingenes tilstand," and "Folkeopplysningen," as well as TV Norge's "Typisk deg." His expertise spans both commercial and artistic animation, combining technical proficiency with storytelling innovation.

As an educator, Haga bridges the gap between industry practice and academic research, preparing the next generation of animators while continuing to push the boundaries of what animation can achieve in virtual environments. His work represents the evolution of Norwegian animation from traditional techniques to cutting-edge digital storytelling, while his academic contributions help establish the theoretical foundation for understanding animation's power as an artistic medium.
