MorE INFO:

Trond M.K. Venaasen is a Norwegian screenwriter who graduated from the Norwegian Film School and has worked as a screenwriter since 2004. He chose to establish himself in Lillehammer after completing his film school education, rather than moving to Oslo like many of his peers.

Venaasen is best known for co-creating and writing the popular Norwegian children's drama series "Trio" (2014-2016) with Morten Hovland, which aired on NRK Super and won the "best children's or youth program" category at Gullruten 2014. The series consists of three seasons and was followed by the feature film "Trio - The Hunt for Olav's Shrine" in 2017.

He also co-created the preschool animated series "Ella Bella Bingo" in 2009 alongside illustrator Tom Petter Hansen and producer Frank Mosvold. The series has been sold to more than 20 countries and was adapted into a feature film in 2020.

Venaasen wrote the screenplay for the World War II drama "The Birdcatcher" (2019), an international co-production that tells the story of a Jewish girl's survival in Nazi-occupied Norway. He collaborated with Oscar-nominated writers Ostby and Fergus on this project through the U.S.-Norway Film Development Initiative.

In 2017, Venaasen received two awards at the Lillehammer Film Festival: the Lillehammer Film Award (shared with Morten Hovland) and the Film School's Honorary Award, recognizing his contribution to the local film industry. Beyond his screenwriting career, he also works as a handball trainer in his spare time.
